Ogun auto crash claims two lives, injures seven

A tragic auto crash involving a Toyota Camry with registration number AGL36JA that occurred around 11 pm on Saturday at Kere, Itori, along the Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos road has claimed two children’s lives and resulted in the maiming of seven individuals.
The accident according to a statement by the spokesperson of Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, on Sunday was attributed to overloading and extreme speed.
Okpe confirmed that the maimed individuals had been taken to Ifo General Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue.
The statement reads, “Operatives from the FRSC Itori Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on Saturday, 31st August 2024, at Kere, Itori, following a crash that occurred at about 2300hrs.
“It was a single-vehicle crash involving a white Toyota Camry with registration number AGL36JA.
“A total of 7 male adults, 1 male child, and 1 female child were involved in the crash. The male child and the female child was killed, while the others sustained various injuries. The injured victims were taken to General Hospital, Ifo, and the corpses were deposited at the morgue.
“The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and overloading. The car was overloaded with passengers.”
However, Dailyeconomy on Friday, August 30, reported that a loaded mini truck was involved in an accident at Apongon inward, CMS under the Bridge axis of Lagos State.
