Ogun power-drunk monarch charged to court over assault

The embattled Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu l Ogunjobi, was charged to court today, Tuesday, for assaulting a 73-year-old man, Areola Abraham and subjecting him to verbal abuse.

Ogunjobi faced a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The monarch was however granted bail while the case was adjourned to March 6.

This was made known in a statement on Tuesday, by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adebjobi.

He wrote, “The Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who assaulted one elderly man in a viral video, in Ifo Ogun State, has been charged to court today 4th February, 2025, on three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

“He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to 06/03/2025. The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession.”

Dailyeconomy had earlier reported that the king had sparked outrage after a viral video surfaced showing him verbally and physically assaulting Arinola.

In short video clip, Arinola was seen kneeling on the road while the Oba cursed him and his family while accusing him of conspiracy.

Reacting to the incident on Monday, the Ogun State Government suspended the Oba l Ogunjobi, for six months for assaulting the 73-year-old man, Areola.
