Okonjo-Iweala meets shipping leaders to advance sustainable global trade

World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala convened with the International Chamber of Shipping and leading global shipping companies to address critical trade issues such as supply chain resilience, decarbonisation, and carbon pricing frameworks.

Highlighting that shipping accounts for 90% of global trade, the meeting emphasised urgent collaboration to tackle industry challenges and promote a sustainable and efficient trading system.

Okonjo-Iweala praised the participants for their practical solutions aimed at enhancing global shipping resilience.

She said, “Our continued dialogue and collaboration are important to the world trading system.”
