Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday shared on X that he received the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to jointly inspect the deteriorated Benin–Agbor Road.

Describing the road’s condition, the governor revealed, “We saw firsthand the years of neglect, the deep potholes, the failed drainage systems, and the daily frustrations that continue to cost commuters and traders valuable time and income.”

In response to these challenges, Governor Okpebholo announced prompt action, “I have directed that palliative works commence without delay, including targeted pothole repairs, improved drainage where possible, deployment of equipment and personnel, and temporary traffic management to restore safer movement while permanent solutions are prepared.”

Both officials also committed to a more comprehensive overhaul, agreeing “to accelerate a comprehensive reconstruction plan in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Works and our contractors,” which will feature “full resurfacing, structural repairs, drainage rehabilitation, and safeguards to prevent future damage.”

Governor Okpebholo stated that technical teams from the State and Federal levels will finalize the project scope and timelines, adding, “I will personally oversee progress to ensure transparency and timely delivery.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to “practical and lasting solutions that will improve the daily lives of Edo people.”
