Renowned Nigerian rapper, Oladipupo Oladimeji well known as Oladips has accused Wizkid of intellectual property theft.

Oladips in an Instagram post claimed that Wizkid’s lyrics in the song “MMS,” featuring Asake, near mirror his own from “Ajala Traveller.”

Oladips in the post brought out the similarity between his line, “I had to lose myself to find my purpose,” and Wizkid’s, “Lost myself, and I found my purpose.” He questioned whether this was a coincidence or intentional recycling of lyrics, urging Wizkid to respond to the allegations.

Although some argued that sampling is a common music practice, Oladips emphasised that it’s only acceptable when done with proper acknowledgement and permission.

He stated, “It’s normal if you acknowledge the source! No be say dem go dey pretend like say dem no know you but come dey bite your lyrics for corner.”

It would be recalled that Oladips criticised Wizkid a few years ago for lacking originality in lyrics claiming that Wizkid often uses ‘She tell me say’ in most of his music.
