Olympic Paris 2024: Amusan qualifies for 100m hurdles semis-final

Nigeria’s flagbearer at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Tobi Amusan, on Wednesday, qualified for the 100-meter Olympic hurdles semi-final.
Amusan who led the pack of eight athletes with 12.49 seconds was faster than USA’s Alaysha Johnson with 12.61 and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown qualified with 12.84 seconds.
Nigeria hasn’t won a medal at this year’s Olympics.
Amusan competing in her third Olympic Games, aims to surpass Glory Alozie’s 2000 silver medal achievement, as she would be facing a competitive field including world champion Danielle Williams and reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
However, Amusan has undisputed in excellent form, setting a world-leading time of 12.40s earlier this season, and is considered a strong contender for gold in Paris.
The semi-finals will be held on Friday, August 9, while the final is slated for the penultimate day of the athletics event, Saturday, August 10.
