Omah Lay discloses his major challenges in music industry

Afrobeats singer, Stanley Didia popularly called Omah Lay ,has opened up on his major challenges in the music industry, expressing that he often feels unloved and unappreciated by the media and the industry gatekeepers.

Omah Lay in an interview with Amazon Music, said that to escape from his sad reality, he decided to be living in a fantasy world.

He noted that despite having a supportive fan base, family, and team, he feels isolated and disconnected from the industry.

Omah Lay could be heard saying, “I have my fans, family and team but I don’t feel loved especially by the media and the people who call themselves the gatekeepers.”

“This is something I’ve never talked about. I’m that artist that lives in a fantasy world. I just live in my head 90 per cent of the time.”

He further stressed that being a Nigerian and travelling around the world with a Nigerian passport is challenging.

“Travelling especially being a Nigerian and having a Nigerian passport, I have just seen the cruelty of the world so much.

“The immigration officers often maltreat me once they see the Nigerian passport until they realise that I’m Omah Lay that’s when the treatment changes,” Omah Lay added.
