Omokri shares email proof of how Peter lobbied to be Atiku’s running mate in 2018

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has presented what he describes as documentary evidence to back his assertion that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, emailed him his resume in October 2018 to be considered a running mate for Atiku Abubakar.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Omokri stated that he felt compelled to disclose the email following a public accusation from a supporter of Peter Obi who labelled him a liar.
Omokri stated, “My ONLY motive in publishing this evidence is to establish that I did not lie. I would not have considered publishing this email if a Peter Obi surrogate had not called me a liar on a popular podcast.”
According to Omokri, the unsolicited message was sent at 6:13 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018. Peter Obi allegedly expressed that, per instructions from a political figure, he had forwarded his résumé ahead of the official announcement of his selection as Atiku’s running mate on October 12.
“Four days after this email was sent, Peter Obi was announced as Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s running mate,” he added.
Challenging Obi to deny it, “If this email is fake or AI-generated, then I challenge Mr. Obi to deny it, and I will publish even more damning evidence, although it is not my desire to do so. However, even if I am nothing, at least I am a meticulous record keeper.”
Although Omokri’s statement comes after previous assertions that he assisted in presenting Peter Obi as Atiku’s Vice Presidential candidate in 2019, neither Obi nor his team have responded by the time this report was published.
This revelation has sparked a renewed discussion about Omokri’s involvement in the 2019 election ticket formation and could lead to additional scrutiny, depending on the reactions from Obi or his representatives.
