Open defecation: Offenders ordered to clean, restore defaced bridges

The operatives from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources enforcement team, have taken action against a group of individuals caught defecating at the Ile Epo Pedestrian Bridge in the Abule Egba area of the State.

The offenders were instructed to clean up the area and restore the bridge to its original, clean and safe condition.

This was disclosed in a post shared on Saturday, via the X (formally Twitter) handle of the Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.

The post reads, “The Ministry the of Environment and Water Resources enforcement team has taken decisive action at Ile Epo Pedestrian Bridge, addressing the issue of hoodlums who defiled the bridge with waste and defecation. These individuals have been arrested and are now engaged in community service, tasked with clearing all the filth and restoring the bridge to a clean and safe state.

“This enforcement showcases our commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment and ensuring public spaces remain accessible and pleasant for all Lagosians.

“Together, we are making Lagos cleaner and safer!”
