Nigerian singer, Ikuforiji Abdulrahman, well known as Oxlade, has offered N500,000 to a woman who protested with an empty pot.

The unidentified woman became a symbol of the #EndBadGovernance protests on August 1, highlighting hunger and economic hardship.

Oxlade shared the woman’s photo on X (formerly Twitter), seeking assistance in locating her to deliver financial support, which resonated with many who expressed compassion for her plight during the protests.

He wrote, “Someone please help me find this woman, I’ve got 500k for her.”

However, Oxlade reported the comment of a netizen who remarked under his post that “I know he (Oxlade) saw this picture and remembered his grandma thinking to himself ‘If I wasn’t Oxlade this might have been my grandma.’”

Oxlade gained popularity with the release of the song titled “Away”, which appeared on Rolling Stone’s 50 best songs of 2020, and he was named the first Pandora Africa’s Next Artist in July 2022.
