The Oyo State Police Command has announced a string of operational triumphs on Wednesday, neutralising violent crimes and arresting suspects across the state through intelligence-driven policing.

In a statement signed by DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, Police Public Relations Officer, the command hailed its “sustained, intelligence-driven, and proactive policing strategy aimed at ridding Oyo State of crime.”

Under the leadership of CP Femi Haruna and with support from Inspector-General of Police, operatives dismantled threats ranging from murder to serial burglaries.

At Tede’s Budo Panu area, police arrested Yaru Saka for the murder of Amodu Saliu, recovering a locally fabricated single-barrel gun.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and is cooperating fully with investigators,” the statement noted, adding that the victim’s body was released for burial per family request.

In Jobele, officers quelled cult-related violence, rescuing 35-year-old Abraham Atunde from stab wounds and arresting Sammod Bologun, 29, and Katie Suleiman, 24, with a blood-stained knife.

The suspects “confessed to their involvement” and are aiding efforts to nab fleeing members, showcasing the command’s push to “dismantle networks that threaten communal peace.”

At Ilora’s Elekara area, night guard Adeniran Ramon, 50, lost his left hand to a cutlass attack on February 1; police swiftly nabbed 23-year-old Isiaka Muhammed, who confessed.

The biggest haul came in Ibadan at the Salami/Ibachi axis, where operatives stopped a Toyota Liteace bus (MNY 759 YN) packed with stolen goods, arresting serial burglars Rukayat Favour Umar, 17; Mubarak Umar, 26; and Jimoh Ibrahim, 49.

“Investigation revealed that the suspects have been engaged in burglary activities… for some time,” and CCTV linked them to prior crimes. Exhibits went to SCID Iyaganku.

“The Oyo State Police Command reassures the good people of the State of its unwavering commitment to sustaining the fight against crime,” the statement concluded, urging public tips.
