Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has announced his immediate resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, citing a need for “purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery.”

The governor’s decision, detailed in a formal notice addressed to PDP leadership, marks a significant realignment amid ongoing tensions within the party.

Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the platform that propelled him to office but emphasised the “realities of the moment” as driving his exit.

The notice reads, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the PDP with immediate effect.

“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process. I acknowledge the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels during my time in the party, and I remain grateful for the trust reposed in me.”

“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform.”

The move comes as Plateau grapples with security challenges and governance demands, raising questions about his next affiliation—speculation points to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or a new platform.
