Plateau police kill suspected armed robber in gun battle

The officers of the Plateau Police Command have neutralised a suspected armed robber during a gun spree against the hoodlums at the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation which led to the slain of a suspect while the others managed to escape into the forest occurred on Thursday, August 29, around 8 pm.
Divisional Police Officer Bokkos division according to a statement by the state spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo on Saturday have been visiting the scene often after the operation.
Alabo also confirmed that the suspect’s remains has been deposited at the Bokkos public morgue.
The statement reads, “On 29th August 2024 at about 8:00 PM, our patrol Team attached to the Department of Operations (DOPS), State Headquarters Jos while on their way to Bokkos LGA, encountered a roadblock mounted by suspected armed robbers. Upon sighting the patrol vehicle, the hoodlums opened fire on the officers.
“Consequently, a gun battle ensued between the officers and the criminals, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the suspects while the others managed to escape into the forest.
“The scene has been visited by the Divisional Police Officer Bokkos division, and the corpse was deposited at the Bokkos Public Morgue.”
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Olugbemiga Adesina, assured residents that the Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, and urged them to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, as an investigation into the matter is in top gear, to arrest the fleeing suspects.
