Police arrest five for child trafficking rescues month-old infant‬

‪The Lagos Police Detectives of Oko-oba Division has arrested five suspects involved in a child trafficking operation after a report from the mother of a two-month-old missing boy.

The mother of the missing child according to a statement Dailyeconomy obtained on Saturday from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, reported that a woman identified as Gloria Sunday ran away with her son to an unspecified destination on July 11, 2024.

Upon the report, the police detectives swung into action which led to the arrest of Sunday who confessed while interrogating her that she had sold the toddler to Pastor Peter Udoh for N500,000.

The release stated, “Pastor Udoh who was subsequently arrested in Ikene Town, Ogun State, admitted reselling the child for One Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N1,450,000) to one Loretta Nelson ‘f’ who was then also apprehended in Festac Town, Lagos. She confessed to selling the baby for Two Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N2,350,000).

“Further investigations led to the arrest of the final buyers of the baby, Mr and Mrs James Uwam, during the naming ceremony of the stolen child.”

Hundeyin in the statement promised that all suspects would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of their investigation.
