The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Amos Kini, a security guard, in connection with the abduction of a two-year-old child in the Elemoro area of Lagos, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, announced Monday.

According to the statement, the kidnapping occurred on September 21, 2025, around 11:50 pm, when the child’s mother reported to Elemoro Division that “her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.”

The suspect then used the stolen phone to demand a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000) from the child’s father.

Police operatives quickly responded, visited the scene, and questioned one Aruna Dauda, who had guaranteed the suspect’s employment.

With intensified intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance, the police forced the suspect to release the child but continued their search.

Adebisi confirmed, “On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.”

Kini has confessed to the crime and remains in custody pending investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the abduction, reiterating the Command’s determination to fight violent crimes in Lagos State. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities using emergency numbers provided.

The police assured that Amos Kini “will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” reaffirming a strong stance against kidnapping and violent crimes in the state.
