The Delta State Police Command proved their sharp instincts once again with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and kidnapper who tried to hide a fabricated Beretta pistol inside a loaf of bread.

According to a statement on Saturday by the Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on November 6, 2025, around 8:45 a.m., Rapid Response Squad operatives intercepted a suspicious young man at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.

During a routine stop-and-search, they found the fake pistol ingeniously concealed in the bread.

The suspect, 24-year-old Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike of Ogbeowele Quarters, was promptly arrested.

Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi praised the officers, saying, “This discovery is proof of the Command’s sustained intelligence-driven operations.”

He emphasised the force’s commitment to “identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of their tactics,” while calling on residents to stay alert and share credible information.

Investigations continue to determine Chibuike’s links to armed robbery and kidnapping in Asaba and nearby areas, with the weapon secured as evidence.

“We assure that all reports will be treated with confidentiality and are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Delta State,” the statement noted.
