The Enugu State Police Command, in collaboration with forest guards, has raided a container shop allegedly used for peddling illicit drugs at Amaowere-Nike in Enugu.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was carried out by operatives of Unity Division around 7:00 a.m. in line with the directive of Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
The statement read, “The intelligence-guided operation led to the arrest of one suspect, Elias Ukachukwu Agu, aged 43, who, upon interrogation, confessed to being involved in the sale of illicit drugs and substances.
“Exhibits recovered include fourteen cups and twenty-five sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud (commonly called Loud), six sachets of a substance suspected to be Colorado (commonly called Colos)—both variants of cannabis—one weed crusher, and two packets of Rizla.
“The suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
“CP Giwa has cautioned the public, especially young people, against engaging in the sale, purchase, or use of illicit drugs. He reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding Enugu State of crime and criminality while soliciting continued support and cooperation.”
