The Nigeria Police Force has addressed a viral video showing a police helicopter landing in an area with armed individuals, which some falsely claimed was delivering food to bandits.

The Force clarified that the footage actually depicts a legitimate security operation conducted on May 10, 2025, involving joint security forces, local vigilantes, and hunters at the Obajana axis of Kogi State. The helicopter was deployed to provide aerial support and surveillance during the anti-crime mission targeting banditry and kidnapping.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement urged the public to “disregard the unfounded and mischievous claims surrounding the viral video” and to rely on official police communications for accurate information.

He emphasized the Force’s commitment to protecting Nigerians and enhancing national security through collaboration with stakeholders.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians and will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance public safety and national security,” Adejobi added
