The Ondo State Police Command has condemned the attack on the Ipele Divisional Police Headquarters in Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State and dismissed reports that any church was targeted during the incident.

In a statement issued by the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command clarified that “contrary to reports circulating on social media, no church was attacked during the incident.”

He disclosed that the attack occurred on December 31, 2025.

According to the police, findings showed that at about 9:41 p.m., “a group of armed men between 20 and 30 stormed the police station, firing assault rifles and using explosives.”

Parts of the building and some exhibits were set ablaze, resulting in extensive damage to the facility.

No casualty had been recorded at the time of filing this report.

Following the assault, a joint security patrol comprising the Police, Military, Civil Defence, and other security stakeholders was deployed to the area, but the assailants had fled before their arrival.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, described the incident as “a reprehensible act against public peace and security.”

He assured residents that the situation is under control and urged members of the public to remain calm while security agencies intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.
