The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four police officers seen harassing a woman at night while on stop-and-search duties in the Galadimawa Roundabout area of the nation’s capital.

An X (formally Twitter) user, on Monday, October 7, posted a video clip showing some policemen harassing a lady, with the caption, “This is so sad, Abuja police are now very dangerous at night. This happened at Galadimawa Road yesterday night. When is this going to stop ???”

Reacting to the tweet, the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh in a terse statement on Wednesday, said the victim had shown up to identify the officer involved which led to the arrest of the officers.

She wrote, “The police officer assigned to Galadimawa Roundabout for stop-and-search duties, who was seen harassing a woman at night on October 6, 2024, has been summoned.

“The victim has come forward and identified the officer involved. Disciplinary action and a trial have also commenced.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report any police misconduct via our Public Complaint numbers: 09022222352, 08107314192.”
