A joint security operation by the Katsina State Police Command, the Department of State Services, and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps has foiled a planned bandit attack on Dan Takuri village in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The operation, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Danmusa, was launched on March 15 at about 12:30 p.m. following credible intelligence from DSS operatives in the area.
According to the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the intelligence report indicated that a group of armed bandits was assembling at Maijele Mountain in preparation for an attack, stressing “Upon receiving the information, a joint team of police operatives and members of the KSCWC swiftly mobilized to the location, where they engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle.”
He further said one of the bandits was slain, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds due to the superior firepower of the security team.
A search of the scene led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an unregistered red Boxer motorcycle, 50 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 32 bottles of soft drinks, a cutlass, and various dangerous drugs.
The police thereby urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons with gunshot wounds to the nearest security formation.
The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, applauded the operatives for their swift response and assured that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals.
