Police extends tinted glass permit grace period to August 12

The Nigeria Police Force has announced an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement until August 12, 2025.
This decision, approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, comes in response to public concerns and ongoing efforts to improve the digital application process.
In a press release issued by the Force Public Relations Officer
Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force emphasised its commitment to transparent and citizen-focused policing, stating, “The Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all.”
The extension aims to allow for further enhancements to the application system, including simplified procedures, improved verification mechanisms, and reduced delays.
The NPF is working to make both physical and contactless application options more efficient and convenient for all applicants.
Citizens are reminded that the official platform for applying and renewing Tinted Glass Permits is accessible at possap.gov.ng.
The public is also urged to report any unauthorised charges or extortion attempts during the application or biometric capturing process through the dedicated police hotline: 09169967000.
