The Nigeria Police Force has again arrested Nigerian controversial singer, Darlington Okoye, well known as Speed Darlington barely two months after he was released from their custody.
It would be recalled that Speed Darlington was previously arrested on October 4, following the release of a contentious video in which he allegedly mocked his colleague, Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal issues with the FBI over charges of sexual exploitation.
But the singer was later released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.
The singer latest arrest was disclosed in a Facebook post by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
Adeyanju wrote, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria”.
Revealing further, Adeyanju stated that the singer arrest was again facilitated by Burna Boy, noting that Burna Boy claimed to be the new ‘Fela Kuti’ and he had a lot of songs that teach against oppression but he never seized to oppress people.
“Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has being singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi,” Adeyanju wrote.
However, Burna Boy has yet to react to this recent arrest and the reason for the arrest remain unknown as at the time of filling this report.
