Police recover drugs, rescue kidnap victim in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has announced major wins in recent operations, including arms recovery, drug busts, and a daring kidnap rescue, according to SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer.

In a statement on Saturday, Edafe detailed the successes, “CRIME CRACKDOWN: DELTA POLICE RECOVER ONE BERETTA PISTOL AND THREE ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, ARREST TWO SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS, RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIM, AND RECOVERS ILLICIT DRUGS.”

The statement disclosed that on April 2, State Anti-Cult Unit raided Evan Olokpa Igbunu’s home in Sapele, seizing a Beretta pistol and three live rounds. The 29-year-old suspect remains in custody.

Ovwian-Aladja Division according to the spox recovered a sack of suspected hard drugs on April 1 after suspects fled Igbogidi axis.

Abraka Division freed a kidnap victim on April 3 from a bush near a railway line.

“The suspects upon noticing that the policemen were closing in on them, abandoned the victim and took to their heels,” Edafe said.

He affirmed that the victim is safe and aiding the probe.

Ugborikoko Division arrested 26-year-old Tare Orusanaye on April 3 in Effurun with cannabis, a scale, tobacco, and drugs hidden in a generator tank.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi in the statement praised the teams, saying the Command is “committed to intelligence-led policing” and called for public tips to fight crime.
