The incident occurred shortly after Macron departed the United Nations headquarters.
Video footage captured the French leader looking visibly perplexed as he was forced to remain stranded on the road.
However, Macron later called Trump to let him be aware of his situation.
He could be heard telling Trump on a phone call “Guess what? I’m waiting on the street because everything is closed for you.”
A New York City police officer was heard apologising, saying, “I’m really sorry, Mr President, everything is frozen,” referring to the temporary halt in movement caused by the priority given to Trump’s motorcade.
A spokesperson for the French delegation commented, “President Macron understands the situation and appreciates the professionalism of the New York Police Department in managing security protocols during a very busy week.”
