The FCT Police Command has successfully foiled an armed robbery attempt in Kado, arresting one suspect and recovering a cache of exhibits after a swift response to a distress call.

SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police Command, detailed the incident in a statement released on Monday.

“FCT POLICE FOIL ARMED ROBBERY ATTEMPT IN KADO, ARREST SUSPECT AND RECOVER EXHIBITS,” she titled, highlighting the command’s rapid action.

The drama unfolded on Friday, January 23, at approximately 6:15 a.m., when a distress call reached Mabushi Divisional Headquarters.

It reported three armed robbers targeting motorists near the MRS Filling Station in Kado.

A police team from Mabushi Division mobilised immediately, prompting the suspects to flee.

This sparked a high-speed chase and gunfire exchange, during which one robber sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The others escaped into adjacent bushes.

At the scene, officers recovered the suspects’ black Volkswagen Golf 2 (registration JJJ 112 DW), along with weapons and items including one Barreta pistol, one locally made pistol, a Firman generator, two Tecno mobile phones (Spark 4 and T353), an Access Bank ATM card, a catapult, pliers, canvas shoes, slippers, clothing items, and a handkerchief.

Efforts to track down the fleeing suspects continue, as the command intensifies its manhunt.

FCT Police Commissioner CP Miller G. Dantawaye reaffirmed the force’s dedication to public safety, stating, “The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, reassures residents of the Federal Capital Territory of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.”

He urged vigilance, directing tips to emergency lines: 08032003913 or 08028940883.
