Police vows to probe death of male crosdresser in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, has ordered a discreet investigation into the mysterious death of an unidentified male found dressed in female clothing on an Abuja highway.
The FCT Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Thursday that in the early hours of Thursday, the Command Control Room received a distress call that an unidentified lady was seen lying motionless along the Katampe – Mabushi expressway, Abuja.
Adeh said in response to the distress call the police operatives were dispatched to the scene forthwith.
However, Adeh in the statement noted that investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification on him.
The statement reads, “In response to a distress call received by the Command Control Room on 08/08/2024 at about 07:40 AM, that an unidentified lady was seen lying motionless along Katampe – Mabushi expressway, a team of detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification on him.
“He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital where Doctors on duty confirmed him dead.”
Meanwhile, in the pictures tagged under the statement, our correspondent observed that the body was discovered wearing a bra, wig, and carrying a handbag, with no means of identification.
The CP however directed the police to unravel the circumstances surrounding the crossdresser’s death.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, psc, mni, has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Updates on this matter will be communicated in due course,” the statement added.
However, in a video viewed by our correspondent on Thursday, a crossdresser popularly known as Abuja Area Mama was seen lying in a pool of blood with scratches over his body.
