The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has on Tuesday accused “enemies of Nigeria” of spreading a fabricated social media post falsely attributed to United States President Donald Trump.

In a post on X, Onanuga shared a screenshot of a doctored Truth Social message that appeared to show Trump blasting Tinubu’s upcoming UK state visit as “tone-deaf” in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The assault, linked to Boko Haram insurgents, claimed at least 23 lives earlier this week.

“Enemies of Nigeria always at work, always ready to fabricate anything,” Onanuga wrote while quoting the image.

The screenshot included a proposed X Community Note clearly labeling the Trump post as fake—no such statement exists on Truth Social.

However, the note verified the authenticity of the Boko Haram attacks and Tinubu’s scheduled three-day state visit to the United Kingdom from March 17-19, 2026, where he will be hosted by King Charles III.

Tinubu’s visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties, economic partnerships, and security cooperation between Nigeria and the UK.
