Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has unleashed a critique of United States President Donald Trump on social media, accusing him of gross hypocrisy amid ongoing US domestic unrest.
In a post on X, Sowore highlighted what he sees as Trump’s selective outrage.
“US @POTUS Donald J. Trump is presiding over the killing of his fellow American citizens in the streets, with utter disregard for their rights, their lives, or even their citizenship,” Sowore wrote.
He went on to mock supporters who defend Trump’s interest in Nigeria’s security issues.
“Yet some bozos still insist that this same man genuinely cares about ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria! Tueh!” Sowore added, using the Yoruba expression of disgust to dismiss the notion.
The post taps into long-standing tensions between Sowore – a prominent critic of both Nigerian and global leadership – and Trump’s administration, which has repeatedly raised alarms over religious violence in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
Sowore’s RevolutionNow movement has previously clashed with authorities over demands for democratic reforms.
