The Police Service Commission (PSC) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the application deadline for recruiting 50,000 constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming response of over 400,000 applications since the portal opened on December 15, 2025.

Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at the PSC, announced the extension in a statement on Monday.

The new deadline is now February 8, 2026, driven by disparities in state participation.

States like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra lagged behind.

“This decision follows the receipt of over 400,000 applications and a review showing significant disparities in state participation,” Kalu stated, emphasising the goal of equitable nationwide representation.

The PSC urged eligible Nigerians, especially from under-represented states, to apply promptly via the official portal: npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. State governments, local councils, sociocultural groups, religious bodies, and community leaders were called to mobilise citizens.

“The extension aims to ensure equitable representation nationwide,” the statement added.

“The PSC and NPF reaffirm their commitment to a fair and transparent recruitment process.”
