Following Al Nassr’s crucial 2-0 win against reigning champions Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, Rio Ferdinand revealed a memorable conversation he had with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former England and Manchester United defender quoted himself saying to Ronaldo, “Looks like you’re gonna win the league this season.”

Ronaldo responded with a measured warning, “Calm down, just one match at a time.”

On Friday evening, Ronaldo’s goal helped Al Nassr extend their unbeaten streak to four matches, opening up a three-point lead at the top of the league.

Both teams had maintained perfect records heading into the encounter, but it was Ronaldo and his teammates who maintained their 100 percent run at King Abdullah Sports City.

The scoring was opened early by former Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mané, who “hammered home a volley after a tidy run and cross from Kingsley Coman,” settling the match in favor of Al Nassr.

Ronaldo’s contribution further cemented the team’s dominance as they push toward the league title.
