Rodri has been named the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, becoming the first player from Manchester City to receive this prestigious honour.

The announcement was made during a star-studded ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

Rodri’s remarkable contributions to Manchester City’s success, including their record fourth consecutive Premier League title and his pivotal role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, were key factors in his selection.

He is the first Premier League player to win the award since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008, and the first midfielder since Luka Modric in 2018.

Meanwhile, the people’s favourite to win the Ballon d’Or over recent weeks was Vinicius Junior, with the Brazilian having fired Los Blancos to a Champions League and La Liga double.

Vinicius scored 24 goals and assisted 11 more across all competitions, including a brace in the Champions League semi-final at Bayern Munich and one in the final win over Borussia Dortmund.
