Soccer icon, Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% stake in Spanish second-division club UD Almería, marking his boldest move yet into football ownership.
The deal, finalised with the club currently owned by a Saudi investment group, fulfills a long-held dream for the Portuguese superstar.
Ronaldo, who continues to dazzle on the pitch for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, shared his excitement in a statement, “It has been a longtime ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch.”
He praised the club’s potential, adding, “UD Almería is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth.”
The investment comes as Almería battles in Spain’s Segunda División, aiming for a return to the top flight.
Ronaldo’s involvement could bring global attention, sponsorships, and expertise to the Andalusian side, known for its distinctive red-and-white stripes and passionate fanbase.
This stake positions Ronaldo among high-profile football figures like David Beckham and Ryan Reynolds who’ve ventured into club ownership, blending his on-field legacy with business acumen.
