Al-Nassr coach, Jorge Jesus has disclosed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s hamstring strain is more serious than initially anticipated.
“After tests, we see the injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo was more serious than expected,” said Jesus.
The 41-year-old Portuguese superstar picked up the knock during Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Kholood on February 28, 2026, which has sidelined him for an estimated 2-4 weeks during the critical Saudi Pro League title race.
Jesus confirmed Ronaldo will seek specialised care abroad.
“Cristiano will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured.
“His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team,” he added.
The setback highlights Ronaldo’s vulnerability at his advanced age, despite his stellar form—bagging 35 goals for Al-Nassr this season.
Fortunately, it is not expected to derail his preparations for Portugal’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
Al-Nassr, chasing the league crown, will lean on its depth while the five-time Ballon d’Or winner recovers.
