Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called on the club to prioritise signing Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen in this transfer window, highlighting the urgent need for a proven goal scorer to revive United’s struggling attack.

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray with an impressive record of 28 goals in 32 appearances this season, has become Manchester United’s top target for the summer transfer window, with Napoli reportedly willing to offer a discounted release clause of €75 million to facilitate the deal and edge out rivals like Juventus.

Scholes and other club legends believe Osimhen’s experience and scoring ability could be the key to solving United’s goal drought, as the team has managed just 37 Premier League goals this season, ranking among the lowest scorers in the division.

“I think Osimhen, it sounds like a doable one,” Scholes told The Overlap Fan Debate.

“When you talk about financial problems, Osimhen could be doable. But I would keep Hojlund.

“I know he is not been great, but he’s a 22-year-old kid playing on his own for Manchester United the last two years.

“Manchester United should have at least three top centre forwards. I would have him and Osimhen. Him, Osimhen and Gyokeres,” he added.

Talks between Napoli and Manchester United officials have already taken place, signaling the club’s clear intention to push hard for the striker’s signature.

Despite some concerns about Osimhen’s salary demands, the Red Devils appear ready to make a significant investment to bring the prolific forward to Old Trafford, aiming to strengthen their squad and improve their Premier League standing next season.
