Senate backs state of emergency in Rivers State

The Senate on Thursday approved the State of Emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State on Tuesday.
The decisiveness of the Senate was announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary after about two hours of closed-door session.
Dailyeconomy reported that President Tinubu on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in Rivers state following intractable crisis between the Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly.
The President had in a nationwide emergency broadcast expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Rivers State.
However, Tinubu swore-in Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as Sole Administrator of Rivers State on Wednesday.
