The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed retired General Christopher Musa as the new Minister of Defence.
The confirmation, secured through a voice vote on Wednesday, came after an intense and thorough screening session where Senators probed Musa on various defense and security issues.
Gen. Musa, who retired as Chief of Defence Staff just under 40 days ago, was nominated by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.
His nomination was promptly sent to the Senate the same day for confirmation.
The swift confirmation highlights confidence in Musa’s experience and capabilities to lead Nigeria’s Defence Ministry amid ongoing security challenges.
Lawmakers appreciated his extensive military background and readiness to tackle national defense responsibilities effectively.
The appointment signals a strategic move to leverage Musa’s expertise in shaping Nigeria’s defense policies and strengthening its military apparatus.
