Vice President Kashim Shettima has led a high-powered Federal Government delegation to Kwara State on Saturday to commiserate with victims of a brutal terrorist attack in Nuku and Woro villages, Kaiama Local Government Area, which claimed several lives on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

This was made known in a statement obtained on Saturday from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President).

Speaking during the visit, Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to security.

“Your Excellency, we are here at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commiserate with you and the good people of Kaiama and Kwara State over the tragedy that befell our communities of Woro and Nuku,” he said, describing the victims as “peaceful members of the communities that were dedicated to building peaceful livelihood.”

The Vice President assured residents that “all hands are on deck to ensure that peace and tranquility is restored,” revealing that President Tinubu had ordered the deployment of a Nigerian Army battalion to Kaiama.

He also disclosed directives to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to partner with Kwara’s emergency agency in providing aid to affected communities.

Shettima avoided specifics on security operations, noting, “Security issues are sensitive issues and we do not have to divulge most of the actions that are being taken by our security establishment.”

He extended “heartfelt condolences” from the President and Federal Government to grieving families and the state.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his remark commended the rapid federal response, stating, “Troops are already on ground and the Operation Savannah Shield is in motion. We truly appreciate the response of the Federal Government.”

He urged continued prayers for national security.

Earlier, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, offered condolences, praying, “Almighty Allah will forgive those that have lost their lives and grant them Aljannah firdaus.”

Local leaders echoed the gratitude. Kaiama LGA Chairman Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi thanked Tinubu and Shettima for the military deployment, while Emir of Kaiama, HRH Alhaji Mu’azu Shehu Omar, said, “We really appreciate the effort of President Tinubu, security personnel and other relevant agencies are adequately deployed.”
