The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has revealed why he and his crew members were attacked at the Lagos City Marathon.
It was gathered that Sowore was brutally attacked by suspected political hoodlums on Saturday.
In a live Facebook video watched by our correspondent, the thugs could be seen physically assaulting Sowore, his crew members and some individuals believed to be journalists.
Confirming the attack, Sowore in a post on his verified social media handle said he is safe and unharmed.
He noted that the management of the facility accused them of unlawfully occupying the “VVIP space post-event”.
He wrote, “I am safe and unharmed in Lagos. Yes, some rogue elements launched an attack on us after completing the Lagos Marathon today, claiming that we unlawfully occupied the “VVIP” space post-event.
“They mobilized thugs to assault us.”
