Activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has fiercely criticises reported U.S. military strikes on Nigerian soil on Christmas Day, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s government of weakness and foreign interference.
In a post on X, Sowore highlighted announcements from U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth about attacks targeting terrorist groups.
He dismissed Nigeria’s claim of a “joint effort with vague ‘international partners’” as cover for unauthorised action.
“It is evident that the strikes were carried out without the genuine authority or informed consent of the weaklings masquerading as government under President Bola Tinubu.”
Sowore pointed to a confirmed strike on a village in Sokoto as evidence of U.S. disregard for Nigeria.
“Judging by the nature of the confirmed strike on a village in Sokoto, it is clear that the U.S. President under whose authority this operation occurred neither understands nor genuinely cares about Nigeria or Nigerians.”
He lamented Nigeria’s lack of sovereign leadership, calling the nation “a bystander while its sovereignty is violated under the direction of U.S. President @realDonaldTrump.”
“Only true, tested, and informed leadership can protect Nigerians—not imperiled, jaundiced neoconservatives operating from Washington, D.C.”
