Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez has reaffirmed Spain’s commitment to opposing Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, emphasising moral resolve over material power, as tensions escalate in the broader US-Israel-Iran conflict.

In a video, Sánchez said, “Spain, as you know, does not have nuclear bombs, nor does it have aircraft carriers or large oil reserves. We alone cannot stop the Israeli offensive. But that doesn’t mean we are going to stop trying. Because there are causes that are worth fighting for, even if winning them is not in our hands alone.”
“Spain doesn’t have resources like Oil reserves or Nuclear bombs but that doesn’t mean we will not fight against imperialist Israel and try to stop them.”
The remarks underscore Spain’s evolving foreign policy since 2024, marked by its recognition of Palestine and leading EU condemnations of Israeli actions as breaches of international law.
This stance comes amid reports of over 40,000 Palestinian deaths in Gaza by early 2026, fueling global calls for ceasefires.
