The Lagos State Police Command, has lauded the swift actions of vigilant Lagosians who helped prevent a potential threat by reporting a 16-year-old boy, Solomon Ibiwoye, spotted carrying a firearm.

Acting on the tip-off, officers from the Ebute-Ero Police Division conducted a search at Ibiwoye’s residence, where they recovered a locally fabricated firearm and an unspent cartridge.

In an X (formally Twitter) post, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, urged Nigerians to always report suspicious activities, emphasising that timely information can help avert serious incidents.

He wrote, “Kudos to observant Lagosians who noticed 16-year-old Solomon Ibiwoye with a firearm and discreetly alerted Ebute-Ero Police Division.

“The police searched his house and recovered a locally fabricated firearm and an unexpended cartridge. Investigation is in progress.

“One more firearm off the streets. See something, say something!”
