The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed a deadly attack by unidentified armed men on the Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint, part of the TUGA Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State.

The violent incident occurred on Thursday, November 27, 2025, around 10:00 PM.

In a statement signed by ACI AS Akinlabi, NIS Public Relations Officer, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, expressed deep regret over the loss, saying, “Three gallant NIS personnel lost their lives in the line of duty. Several operational assets and facilities at the location were also destroyed.”

The NIS extends “heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen personnel, honoring their selfless sacrifice and commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s Borders.”

Responding swiftly, the Comptroller-General ordered an immediate tactical response, including deploying reinforcements, intensifying joint operations with other security agencies, and enhancing intelligence efforts along the TUGA axis.

He emphasised efforts to restore full security control, stating, “The Nigeria Immigration Service remains resolute in its mandate to securing the nation’s Borders and will not be deterred by acts of criminality.”
