Tinubu announces ambitious $1bn trade, investment push at TICAD9

At the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), President Bola Tinubu took to X on Wednesday to outline Nigeria’s strategic vision for the summit, highlighting the country’s commitment to driving innovation and economic growth across Africa.

In a statement, Tinubu affirmed, “At #TICAD9, themed ‘Co-create innovative solutions with Africa,’ Nigeria comes with clarity of purpose.”

He detailed Nigeria’s objectives at the conference, which include unlocking over $1 billion in trade and investment, fostering green innovation, and accelerating industrial growth.

“Our participation aims to unlock $1Billion+ in trade & investment, drive green innovation & industrial growth, expand opportunities for our youth, and position Nigeria as the heart and gateway to West Africa’s vast market,” Tinubu wrote.

The president emphasised that the summit would serve as a critical platform for sustainable development and global partnerships, “anchored on technology, talent & trust.”

He expressed strong confidence in Nigeria’s leadership role on the continent, concluding with a powerful vision: “Nigeria will lead, and Africa will rise.”
