Tinubu appoints Babangida as BoA chairman, unveils new heads for key agencies

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, as the chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.

The announcement was made Friday as part of a major shakeup of federal agencies, with seven other notable appointments ratified by the president.

Babangida, 53, brings significant academic and managerial credentials to the role, being an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, and a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Corporate Governance.

“President Tinubu approved the appointment today, along with seven others. Some of them will serve as chairmen or directors-general of Federal agencies.

“Muhammad Babangida, 53, is an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication. He later attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Corporate Governance in 2002,” a statement by the Special Adviser to the President
(Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga confirmed on Friday.

The full list of new appointees and their assigned agencies includes:

Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna State): Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA)

Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano State): Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC)

Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano State): Chairman, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON)

Sanusi Musa (SAN) (Kano State): Chairman, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR)

Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State): Director-General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA)

Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara State): Director-General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN)

Mrs. Tomi Somefun (Oyo State): Managing Director, National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC)

Dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria (Kaduna State): Executive Director, Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC).
