President Bola Tinubu has granted a two-year extension to the tenure of AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin, the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGoF), effective from January 5, 2026.
This decision follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the approval in a statement on Wednesday.
The President is keen on the continuation of reforms initiated by Adebomehin in key areas of geospatial data systems.
He expects the Surveyor-General “to consolidate the reforms within the next two years, focusing on national land management and administration, highways and abutting land infrastructure coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other related matters of strategic national importance.”
Appointed by the late President Muhammadu Buhari and in office since January 5, 2022, Adebomehin has led significant improvements across critical sectors under the OSGOF.
