President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow and outrage over the spate of violent attacks that have recently devastated multiple Nigerian states.
In a heartfelt statement on Sunday, the President condemned the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, the lynching of innocent travellers in Plateau State, and the deadly explosion in Kano, describing these acts as “unconscionable” and a direct assault on innocent lives.
“The bombing in Borno claimed the lives of innocent Nigerians and was a cruel attempt to spread fear.
“I have directed the National Emergency Management Agency to provide urgent support to survivours, and I extend my deepest condolences to the Government and people of Borno State,” Tinubu said.
He further urged security forces to intensify efforts against Boko Haram, underscoring the need to dismantle their capacity to target vulnerable communities.
“We must crush their ability to inflict harm on soft targets as a diversionary tactic,” the President declared.
On the tragic lynching in Plateau State, where 12 wedding guests were brutally murdered, Tinubu voiced strong condemnation, “These killings must not go unanswered. I have ordered the Nigerian Police Force to work with all relevant security and intelligence agencies to ensure that those responsible are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.”
He also called on the Plateau State government to collaborate with security agencies to break the vicious cycle of violence.
“Freedom of movement is a non-negotiable right of every Nigerian, and we will not tolerate any attempt by anyone or group of people to curtail that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and fear,” he affirmed.
Regarding the explosion at a scrap metal facility in Kano that claimed five lives, the President expressed sympathy for the victims’ families and highlighted the urgent need for improved workplace safety.
“I have directed the relevant agencies to investigate the cause and take appropriate actions to prevent a recurrence,” he said.
Closing his statement with a message of unity and resolve, Tinubu said, “To the people of Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna States, I stand with you in grief and resolve.
“We will not rest until justice is done and peace and safety are fully restored across our land. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may God continue to protect the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
