Tinubu condoles Enugu govt, victims of fuel tanker explosion

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness and condoled the government and people of Enugu State over the fatal fuel tanker explosion.

The tanker which was said to have lost control while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway has claimed a number of lives and left several injured.

Tinubu in  a statement by his Special Adviser to on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, urged for caution and proper adherence to safety measures amongst road users, especially fuel tanker drivers, while giving directives for proper enforcement of rules to avert recurring tanker accidents.

Onanuga wrote, “President Bola Tinubu condoles with the government and the people of Enugu state over the fuel tanker explosion, which resulted in the loss of lives on Saturday.

“The fuel tanker reportedly spiralled out of control and burst into flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

“President Tinubu commiserates with the families of the deceased and the injured and prays for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery for those receiving medical treatment.

“The President calls for caution and adherence to safety measures among road users, particularly fuel tanker operators.

“Furthermore, he directs agencies in charge of enforcing traffic rules to implement measures to prevent recurring fuel tanker explosions nationwide.”
