President Bola Tinubu has praised the Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, for their outstanding performance and dedication during this year’s AfroBasket tournament.

The President in statement shared on Sunday via his official X handle highlighted the team’s “incredible discipline, focus, and team spirit,” applauding their role in not only elevating Nigeria’s sporting reputation but also earning “global respect for Nigerian excellence.”

Special recognition was given to Coach Rena Wakama, Nigeria’s first female head coach, whose “leadership and experience—both on the court and now from the bench—continue to inspire D’Tigress to new heights in this highly competitive sport,” said Tinubu.

With determination burning bright, the President rallied the nation’s support behind the team’s pursuit of their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, declaring,

“The entire nation is behind you as you go for the 5th straight title. #MissionV,” Tinubu affirmed.
