Tinubu hails Rema, Burna Boy, Shallipopi as Nigeria dominates 9th AFRIMA

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian music stars for their stellar wins at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held January 7-11 in Lagos, calling it proof of Nigeria’s rising global creative power.
In a statement on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised the artistes’ “strength, creativity, and resilience,” noting their success reflects “years of hard work, talent, and consistency.”
Key winners included:
Rema: Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Best African RnB & Soul.
Burna Boy: Album of the Year.
Shallipopi: Song of the Year, Best African Collaboration (with Burna Boy).
Others: Phyno (Best African Hip-Hop), Qing Madi (Most Promising Artiste), Yemi Alade (Best Soundtrack), Chella (African Fans’ Favourite).
“I warmly congratulate our outstanding Nigerian artistes. You have not only won awards; you have projected our culture, amplified the voice of our youths,” Tinubu said.
He also commended Lagos State and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for hosting the event, which drew over 1,216 participants from 48 African countries.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to the creative economy, “Music remains one of Africa’s strongest voices. Our government is fully committed to empowering young Nigerians.”
AFRIMA, founded in 2014 with the African Union, ended with a sold-out finale at Eko Convention Centre.
